“The Crossroads of Should and Must” -Elle Luna at Wisdom 2.0

My last blog post spoke of Wisdom 2.0- a fabulous conference in San Francisco at the end of February that represents a confluence of the influences of mindfulness, technology, contemplative neuroscience and compassion.
One talk that I would highly recommend was by artist Elle Luna. (http://new.livestream.com/accounts/2635433/events/3845334/videos/78774622).

Elle speaks of her journey from technology to art and how she found herself at the “crossroads of should and must”. The “shoulds” are those expectations that others have of us. As Brenda Corbett, author of “The Sherpa Guide”, amazing teacher and Sherpa coaching guru says- “Should is a limiting belief”.
The “musts” are who you are!

Elle challenges us to ferret out our shoulds, should nots, should always and should nevers. She suggests that we ask these shoulds: “Where did you come from? Are you true for me? Do I want to keep holding onto you?” She also suggests how to make room for “must”. Her slides for her talk are illustrations from her soon to be released book- “The Crossroads of Should and Must”. Her artwork is simultaneously whimsical and deeply thought provoking. Her talk and her art are magical gifts for all of us who seek to follow our heart’s desire.
